Yahoo.com was published on january 1994 in sunnyvale ,california ,united states . co-founders of yahoo jerry yang and david filo .

Jerry Yang and David Filo want to make a search engine . They decided to make a database in which there is a long list of urls . Day by day their list becomes longer. 

How was Yahoo's journey till the company sold ?

 After the company launched it was the only search engine on the internet . Yahoo got good traffic and in 1997 the company was at second place on the internet .Also on 8 october 1997 yahoo mail was launched .(what is yahoo mail?)

After that, co-founder of google larry page and Sergey brin  prepared a technology called page rank technology for the search engine. At that time google was not launched . when the company was thinking to buy page rank technology then yahoo declined . as they are thinking that this technology will take users to other websites from the main web page from where they get maximum profit. 

 But they don't know that in future this page rank technology will become Google .

In 2002 ,

 Yahoo was one of the popular visiting sites but it was at the very back position in Yahoo-search because of the new technology of Google that is page rank technology .

But this company was just a huge collection of unorganised data where you face difficulties to find your search relevant page .This is the biggest down point in the search of yahoo. 

In 2005 ,

Company purchased 40% shares of Alibaba . Today a big amount of the company's total collection is covered by alibaba only .

In 2008,

Microsoft offered to purchase Yahoo for 44 billion dollars but at the time the company ignored it. but they do not know that it will be the highest offer for their company .

After that , the company offered Facebook 1 billion dollar (about 75523200000.00 in indian rupee) to Mark Zuckerberg . but facebook denied the offer and demanded 1.1 billion dollar according to their resources  and the company declined this offer and the deal was cancelled.

Downfall of Yahoo

Due to old and unorganised technology yahoo suffered a loss of 4.4 billion dollars in 2016 .

After that marissa mayer who was a google executive now became yahoo ceo .

Now the company started investing in mobile phones and the company purchased Tumblr . But these things did not affect the company’s downfall.

Also companies face problems in other sectors also like Yahoo mail is overtaken by Gmail and hot mail, yahoo messenger is overtaken by myspace orcode facebook whatsapp and yahoo news was overtaken by facebook and youtube like social media websites. This pushed the company more backward .

As users started leaving yahoo , the company was facing huge losses . Due to this, yahoo has changed 4 ceo in 6 years. Investors started leaving the company . 

And at the end of story company sold at 4.8 billion dollars(about 3,62,51,13,60,000.00 in Indian Rupee)  to verizon in 2016.
